Desktop Publisher

January 31st 2007 01:35
Desktop publishers produce professionally designed and presented documents, according to specified design and presentation requirements, using desktop publishing software. By using computer software, a desktop publisher will combine printed material, numbers, pictures, and charts to prepare publications.

Editing, writing and correcting text is often part of the job. If necessary they make graphics to go with the text. If there are freehand sketches or prints to be added to published material, a desktop publisher is responsible for converting these pictures and drawings into digital pictures and then use them. They design page layouts and develop presentations. Some of the things desktop publishers develop include books, business cards, calendars, magazines, newsletters, and newspapers. Sometimes they will prepare material for the Internet. Desktop publishers may specialise in simple office documents or in graphically complex, multi-coloured publications.

Cost Estimator

January 30th 2007 01:25
Cost estimators figure out how much a project or product will cost. They study information on all of the things that can change the cost of a project. This includes supplies, labor, location, and special equipment, like computer hardware and software. This information helps business owners and managers decide whether to build a structure or manufacture a product. If a business doesn't think it can make enough money, it will not do it. Cost estimators also find out which jobs are making a profit. The exact method of figuring out the cost varies, depending on the industry in which you work.

In the construction industry, a cost estimator would look at drawings and visit the site of the project. They determine the amount of materials and labour the firm will need. They also consider the costs of things like unused materials, delays due to bad weather, and shipping delays. They tell the architect, construction manager, or owner if they think the project will be profitable or not, and write their findings in a detailed report.

Judge

January 3rd 2007 00:04
When someone commits a crime, they need to be held accountable and, in the instance of a dispute, the matter needs to be brought to a conclusion. Applying their understanding of the law, judges decide or guide others to decide whether or not someone is guilty of a crime, or who is right or wrong in disputes. While all judges perform similar duties, the Court they preside over will determine the sort of cases they hear. In the District Court, cases involving serious criminal offences are heard. They may require a jury to decide on the verdict (guilty, or not guilty).

However, not all court cases require a jury. In a civil court, judges hear evidence from two different parties (the plaintiff/s and defendant/a). After hearing and considering all the evidence, the judge decides who is the successful party. The Family Court deals with issues of family law such as divorce, property settlements following a divorce, custodial and access rights to children as well as adoptions.

The greatest demand comes from parents who are working full time, but sometimes those who need a break from parenting, or parents who are going away on business or holidays, engage a nanny who comes in to the home to look after the children. Whatever the reason, or whatever the age of the child, it's a nanny's responsibility to provide a high level of care to the children under their supervision.

Most nannies are employed to care for children under the age of six who need constant and total attention. Teenagers, on the other hand, may just need to be supervised, have their meals prepared, or need help with their homework.
