One of the hard truths about the universe is that there'll always be a need for people to work in bars. No matter what shape the world is in, people will always want a drink - and until they introduce self-operated alcohol vending machines, there'll always be a need for people to shuffle those drinks.
Sydney's no different, except in Australia, people don't tip. A strange system, if you come from tipping countries, like the US or Canada.
No, instead, barstaff make incredible wages, like this job, looking for 3 staff, for $26/hr.
Twenty-six dollars an hour? That's incredible! After working for one hour, you've made enough money to buy a kilo of Tiger Prawns, or buy a round of beer for you and your four friends.
It's good money, made better by the fact that, sometimes, people DO tip... a friend of mine made great wages working for a pub in Balmain, but would routinely bring home an extra $20-$30 in tips.
To work in a bar in Sydney, you'll need an RSA (Reliable Service of Alcohol), a certificate which states that you've completed a course on serving alcohol. The course can be taken easily in one day, and usually costs between $60 - $90.
