Nurses play an integral part in any health care team and their responsibilities vary from general patient care to assisting doctors with a variety of tasks such as observing and measuring a patient's vital signs and assistance during intricate surgical procedures.
Such is the overwhelming demand for nurses in the Australian health care system that nursing jobs for fresh graduates or registered nurses with a wealth of experience are relatively easy to come by.
Plentiful nursing jobs (Night nurse, ICU nurse, Theatre Nurse, Cardiac nurse etc.) are added onto the Australian version of Gumtree on a regular basis and typical job requirements include:
- At least two years experience in an acute medical setting
- Less experienced nurses will assume a junior role
- Post Graduate Qualifications (preferred not essential)
- Registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board of New South Wales (or application in progress)
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Sponsorship on offer for suitable international candidates
A career in nursing is challenging yet rewarding experience and as such, registered nurses typically command a starting salary of approximately $41,000 per year and up to $100,000 plus for an experienced nurse seeking a director role (or similar) in a hospital environment.
